    We've recently undertaken workforce change across the Data Protection Office service and are seeking an excellent astute support specialist to support the Data Protection Officer and Deputy.

    What's the role?

    The post holder will lead and take responsibility for ensuring comprehensive specialist support for the development of key work streams, projects and strategies across the entire service.

    The post holder will report directly to and support the Head of Information Security and Data Protection Officer / Deputy in working with multi-disciplinary staff.
    • Provide comprehensive, high quality specialist support and management to assist in the planning and delivery of agreed projects and work streams relating to the service.
    • Communicate with key individuals and use negotiating/persuasive skills to gain solutions to project issues, using own initiative.
    • Plan and organise own portfolio of work to meet set deadlines and work under pressure, as required managing any unpredictable work patterns as best as possible.
    Undertake activities utilising a range of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and appropriate programme/project management software.

    The post requires a mix of on-site and home working to suit the needs of our service. Typically, one or two days a week depending on the service needs. The service has an agile working approach and planned meeting schedules so the entire service can plan accordingly their home and work life balance accordingly.     Training & Qualifications Essential
    • Higher level education or equivalent experience gained through work in a similar / administration role
    • Evidence of good written English
    • Evidence of on-going further personal and professional development
    • Educated to A-Level / Diploma or demonstrates an equivalent level of experience
    • Experience of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
    • Must be willing to participate in any relevant training to develop skills required to carry out duties
    Desirable
    • Project Management Qualification
    • Formal Administration / Management Qualification
    • Experience of working with the Data Security & Protection Toolkit
    • Knowledge of project methodology Data Protection Act Qualification
    • Management / Line Management / Supervisory Qualification An understanding of the Data Protection Act / UK GDPR, Freedom of Information and Access to Health Records Legislation
    Experience Essential
    • Recent significant experience in a similar administration / business support role
    • Efficient organisation of meetings and other appointments within a very broad and dynamic agenda
    • Excellent IT skills demonstrating a proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages
    • Ability to accurately input data into a variety of spreadsheets / case management systems
    • Knowledge of how NHS organisations work together
    • Problem solving abilities, good presentation / training skills / delivering to role
    • Experience of office management and developing and maintaining administration systems and procedures
    • Working in a busy office environment and agile
    • Ability to plan and organise work programmes autonomously
    • Working with sensitive and confidential information
    • Experience of handling patient / public queries
    • Producing agendas, formatting reports and letter writing
    • Ability to facilitate meetings
    • Knowledge or experience of the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit

    • Experience and / or understanding of Data Protection challenges in a healthcare setting
