Junior Developer

Scientific/R&D Environment
Our Global Life Sciences client are looking for a Developer to join them for an initial 3 month contract.

You would be using your own creative flair to create innovative prototypes and robust final products.

You'll work directly with R&D scientists, IT analysts and IT architects to determine appropriate technology choices and approaches and work independentlyto deliver working solutions.


This will be an exciting role to anyone who wants to develop their computer science skills, learn more about scientific R&D and play a direct part in discovering safe and sustainable solutions for the people who grow our food.


In return, we will provide training and mentoring to support your longer-term personal and professional development and will offer work opportunities across our diverse R&D teams.


Accountabilities

  • Primary app builder to deliver innovative technical solutions to R&D problems
  • Understanding the intent and the scientific context of requirements/user stories and demonstrating how the technical solution meets these objectives
  • Ensure adherence to Agile methodologies and internal standards
  • Works through the product backlog with the Platform Manager and Platform Owner
  • Challenges scope creep
  • Contributor at solution design discussions, backlog prioritisation and Agile sprint ceremonies
  • Work closely with internal and offshore development teams
  • Liaise with other developers to share experiences, skills and innovation across IT
  • Highlights risks as they become evident
  • Leads testing of features prior to release

Experience / Previous jobs required for the job

  • Experience delivering computing solutions
  • Experience working in an Agile (ideally DevOps) environment desirable
  • Experience working in life sciences R&D desirable
  • Awareness of emerging technologies
  • System experience: MySQL, Python, AWS Cloud
  • Able to work as part of a team and focus on personal delivery goals
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Selfmotivated and proactive, ability to anticipate issues early
  • Ability to manage complexity and uncertainty with experimentation
