An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Staff Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team on Florence ward. We are looking for an experienced urology nurse with excellent knowledge and skills.
This is an ideal opportunity for development into a management and leadership position. The role of the Senior Staff Nurse is integral to the team and therefore strong leadership, communication skills and the ability and willingness to take on new challenges is paramount.
Ideally you should have attain a urology course , and a standard for student supervision and assessment (Mentorship) and a willingness to develop management and leadership experience.

Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a Band 6 senior staff nurses to support and be responsible for day to day operational management of the unit, ensuring patients and their relatives receive high quality care through each stage of their treatment and post op urology inpatient unit comprises of two 26 bedded surgical wards which are co-located and well established and deliver care to male and female patients undergoing variety of specialized urological procedures and surgical are a specialized center for prostate, bladder, Kidney and testicular cancer as well as andrological surgery. Our services offer a variety of highly specialized urology surgery including Robotic, laparoscopic, transurethral and percutaneous and major participate in the day to day management through effective coordination of the shift and the department through the delivery of high standard patient care ensuring patients and relatives are well informed of each stage of their surgical pathway and treatment on the will be expected to assist staff in promoting a positive working and learning environment to aid personal and professional is an excellent opportunity to enhance or consolidate on your clinical leadership skills within a supportive and innovative environment. Job descriptionJob responsibilities
Lead the ward/Department team and build successful links between key professionals to support and promote effective multi-disciplinary team working in the day-to-day activities.
Manage the department nursing staff, ensuring the patients receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines.
Be wholly accountable for his / her practice in line with the NMC code of professional conduct and takes every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve his / her knowledge and professional competence.
Communicate effectively and efficiently and liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that patients receive seamless care within the trust.
Act as a professional nurse leader and role model to the staff. To apply clinical skills of the highest standard and to take a proactive approach to the development of clinical competence in self and others.
Maximise use of clinical resources, implementing best practice in patient flow, admission and discharge arrangements.
Develop and maintain effective channels of communication between all members of the multi disciplinary team.
To ensure the Ward manager is informed when changes to circumstances may affect safe competent practice.
Participate in nursing and multi professional research and audit and to implement actions identified from quality initiatives.
Lead and support the ward team through the process of change, demonstrating tenacity, drive, professional integrity, balance and perspective.
Deputise for the Ward Manager as appropriate
Responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication including transfusion of blood
Responsible for the correct administration of blood products.
Be responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in the speciality. To interpret information and take appropriate action and to lead others to do the same.
Act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.
Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individuals.
