The Role:
- We are looking to recruit a Consultant in Public Health/Public Health Medicine to take the duty to improve and protect the public's health to the next step through a newly developed strategy and provide focused public health leadership to the local system. Hampshire and Isle of Wight's large Public Health team is located in Winchester/Newport with Winchester being highly accessible from the south of England and London. You will be joining a team of 7 consultants alongside the director and associate director roles. Hampshire now has a formal relationship to provide strategic leadership to Public Health on the Isle of Wight and is also a partner in the Hampshire and IOW and Frimley ICSs. Working for Hampshire therefore, gives experience of working in an upper tier authority, a unitary authority and across different health and care systems. Hampshire is England's third largest county (1.32m people) and has 11 districts and boroughs. The Isle of Wight has a population of 141,000.Public Health in Hampshire is recognised as forward looking, high profile and competent. We are a highly supportive team with staff giving positive feedback about working in the team in a recent survey. We take pride in being an excellent training location and are collaborating with local universities and national public health bodies. Public Health provides strong system leadership including prevention and population health management workstreams and key partnerships with the criminal justice system.-
