Job Purpose


The Head of Quality role encompasses the responsibility for driving forward the standards of teaching, learning and assessment (quality of education), the quality strategy and the learner experience across all our provision types (Currently Online Direct AEB, Apprenticeships, Online Subcontracted AEB, Bootcamps and loans).


The role will lead on driving quality improvements, high performance and developing the educational character of The Skills Network (TSN).

The post holder will provide exceptional leadership across the organisation to ensure the achievement of the agreed educational vision, mission, strategy, and underpinning key performance indicators.


The Head of Quality will provide a clear vision of a values-driven delivery and ensure that all learners, staff, and stakeholders are safe and supported effectively in a fully inclusive environment.

The role encompasses responsibility for ensuring excellent standards of teaching, learning and assessment, an outstanding student experience and external relationship building.


This role also provides an opportunity for the Head to be innovative, utilising technology and data to drive high quality delivery and assessment for TSN's direct delivery as well as supporting other providers/organisations to deliver amazing learning through technology.


Key Responsibilities**- Quality of Education and Quality Improvement_

  • Further embed and reinforce a culture of high aspiration and achievement for all learners and staff
  • Ensure that the Quality Assurance and Improvement Strategy and associated policies robustly assure and enhance quality standards
  • Effective use of technology and data to monitor current performance, identify future innovation and drive forward excellence
  • Support the Ofsted nominee and build capacity within the management and teaching teams to confidently approach inspections.
  • Ensure arrangements are in place to secure strong outcomes in all regulatory inspections, evaluations, and assessments, adopting a positive and constructive approach to external regulatory bodies
  • Help develop an innovative curriculum that will prepare learners for future jobs and allow them to exceed expectations
  • Ensure that the curriculum offer supports and promotes coherent internal progression
  • Ensure that our curriculum offer enhances our inclusiveness and accessibility for increasing numbers of learners with SEND needs
  • Working with curriculum directors, drive the continuous improvement, development and delivery of all curriculum provision types
  • Contribute effectively to ensure that challenging academic, learner, and financial targets are met, whilst providing outstanding service delivery to learners
  • Promote innovative and effective ways of ensuring that learner and stakeholder voice reflects the learner/stakeholder body to enhance the student experience, organisation strategy and decision making
  • Ensure that the 'implicit' values of the organisation are made 'explicit' in the operating policies and practices of the organisation in relation to equality, diversity, and inclusion and that these values are embedded throughout all areas
  • Lead on all aspects of learner and stakeholder experience and ensure learners are provided with opportunities to develop outstanding skills for life that will enable them to progress successfully onto positive destinations
  • Initiate broader learner and stakeholder engagement activities to enhance the learner experience, working collaboratively across the organisation to deliver this
  • Work closely with other members of the SMT and Executive team to ensure that learner and stakeholder views are raised and addressed at the various organisation forums which includes the Learner Union, Council and Learner Voice Surveys.
  • Internal and External Leadership_
  • Be highly visible and credible and ensure effective communication across the organisation
  • Provide motivational, inspirational leadership and management, demonstrating the organisations values and fostering a culture of high aspirations for learners, staff, and stakeholders
  • To develop, enhance and maintain effective links with all key national and local stakeholders, public service partners, funding bodies, audit, and regulatory frameworks including Ofsted, QAA, Matrix and ESFA
  • To serve on such external committees, representative forums and ad hoc collaborative arrangements as are deemed important to the organisation's own capability and capacity
  • Promoting TSN as a highquality organisation being involved in external events and promoting TSN as a leader in high quality innovative provision
  • To create and promote opportunities for new partnerships to help secure highquality education, enrichment, and industry experiences for learners
  • Act as a positive ambassador for the organisation at all times ensuring a shared vision of an inclusive, high performing, values driven education provider
