Protect it. Shape it. Enjoy it. Come to Dorset and be a part of it
Dorset is a beautiful and iconic area, with historic market towns, wonderful countryside and miles of stunning coast as well as a place of innovation and growth.
We are a bold and ambitious council, taking Dorset into the future - and our Planning team is taking centre stage.
Our employee benefits are generous and include a local government pension, flexible working and continual learning and development.
What you will be doing:
The Minerals and Waste Planning team is a specialist team sitting within the wider planning team and deals with a complex and fascinating range of issues.
We have a wide and varied range of minerals sites that you could be involved with, from the Wytch Farm oilfield to Portland and Purbeck Stone quarries, sand and gravel quarries and ball-clay extraction.
About you:
We have vacancies in the Minerals & Waste Planning team for a Planning Officer or Senior Planning Officer, and two Principal Planning Officers.
The Planning Officer/Senior Planning Officer role could be filled by someone starting out on their career in planning, or someone more experienced, maybe making a move from another planning role and wanting to widen their experience.
If you currently have mainstream Development Management or Policy work experience, but would like to tackle something a bit different, then this could be a great opportunity for you to expand your knowledge and widen your skill set.
We are also keen to hear from newly qualified planners, or graduates in planning or other disciplines who would be prepared to undertake part-time planning training under an apprenticeship scheme with all course fees paid.
Whatever stage of your career you're at, you will also need a gift for clear communication and affinity with our values: Responsibility, Respect, Recognition and Collaboration.
