Job summary:


The Director of Submarine's Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Assurance Officer role is an exciting opportunity for you to play an important role in supporting the delivery of the Directorate's Safety and Environmental Management Plan across a significant portfolio of activities in generating the in-service Submarine Force.


Operating within Director Submarine's Portfolio Office, this role form's part Directorate's HS&EP Cell and will oversee and plan 1PA Level 3 assurance activities across Director Submarine's Portfolio.

Job description:

As the Director of Submarine's Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Cell Assurance Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the delivery and maintenance of the Director Submarine's SEMP(s) against requirements of Defence policy and Regulations for HS&EP and in particular Navy Command Safety Environmental Management System.
  • Coordinate and plan a programme of 1st and 2nd Party Assurance audits looking at safety and environmental compliance within the Submarine Domain and as directed by HSEP Manager
  • Conduct data gathering on safety performance as determined by organisations SEMP and assure safety and environmental regulatory compliance, with nonconformances identified and corrective action tracked on behalf of the HSEP Manager.
  • Support the Hierarchy of HS&EP policy appropriate to the organisation; track and record any delegations, and issue updates as required.
  • The HS&EP Assurance Officer is accountable to the HS&EP Manager.
This post has no Line Manager responsibility.


Person specification:

Experience

  • In an auditing role
- knowledge and understanding of ISO 45001

Essential Qualification

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent.
