This is an exciting opportunity for a support medical secretary to join our Cardiology administration team as a permanent member of staff.
You will be working as part of a dedicated team providing a high quality secretarial and administrative service to the department.
You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent audio typing skills, and good organisational and communication skills.
You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and be able to remain calm under pressure.
You will be responsible for audio typing of clinical correspondence within specified timescales. You will need to be a fast and accurate typist with knowledge of medical terminology. You will also be able to prioritise your workload, with constantly changing demands, to meet agreed deadlines. You will be able to use your own initiative and respond to queries appropriately.Main duties of the job
Typing of clinical correspondence
Working closely with clinical and administrative colleagues
Dealing with enquiries in person and by telephone in a sensitive and confidential manner.
Competently use electronic systems such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word.
Have previous administrative experience.

Qualifications:
Essential criteria
- RSA II typing /word processing or equivalent experience
- 4 GCSE's or equivalent C or above must include English
- Computer literate to ECDL standard or equivalent.

- Proven audio typing experience
- Proven admin experience
- Experience in using Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Previous experience of working for the NHS
- Experience of using NHS systems eg Medway PAS and Notis
- Medical terminology

- Must be able to clearly and accurately convey information verbally gathered from both verbal and documented reports
- Uses correct grammar and spelling
- Demonstrate understanding of confidentiality and data protection
- Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
