Sunderland City Council is committed to working towards a low carbon future through the city-wide Low Carbon Framework and the Council's Low Carbon Action Plan - to become carbon neutral as an organisation by 2030 and working with partners to becoming carbon neutral city as a city by 2040.

To help support these ambitions, the Council is seeking to appoint a Carbon Neutral Support Officer.


It is an exciting time to join our team, with the Council committing resources to strengthen the Low Carbon Team to help deliver the strategic priorities set out within the Council's Low Carbon Action Plan, which has recently been updated and refreshed.


You will play a key role within the Low Carbon Team, to assist in the successful development, delivery, and ongoing development of the city-wide Low Carbon Framework and associated Action Plans, facilitating the delivery of projects by colleagues and partners to support delivery of the Council and city-wide carbon neutrality targets.


The successful applicant will be expected to have good organisation skills and experience in relation to sustainability, climate change, and carbon reduction or a relevant qualification in a directly related field.
