Responsibilities:


  • Delivers a highly efficient, effective and available services to the business according to agreed business requirements and service levels within specialist areas of expertise, including but not limited to;
  • Servers both Cloud based & Physical hardware
  • Virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMWare)
  • Azure storage
  • Enterprise Storage Management (Netapp)
  • Cloud integrated storage (including Talon)
  • Backup technologies including Commvault and ASR
  • DFS
  • Server Operating systems
  • Provide Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, Event Management, Monitoring and Request Fulfilment capabilities within the Infrastructure Team.
  • Management of all relevant documentation including Global and local network diagrams, technical documentation, highlevel and lowlevel solution design documents, Knowledge documents, procedure documents, change control, test plans and transition plans.


  • Continuous Service Improvement

  • Benchmarking, performance monitoring ensuring that all infrastructure and services are configured/managed to optimum levels.
  • Acts as 4th Level escalation point of contact with regards to Change, problems and incidents and see them through to resolution, managing suppliers where required.
  • Assists with the configuration management and auditing of all infrastructure Services.
  • Produce detailed documentation and conduct knowledge transition to other teams as required
  • Acts as SME as part of project team for IT project delivery.
  • Provides solution and architecture solution designs.

Accountabilities:

  • Perform effective Incident, problem and change management functions with regards to assigned services
  • Performs daytoday activities and checks as part of the ongoing maintenance of the assigned services and that they are carried out in a timely manner as well as ensuring that a forward schedule of maintenance and upgrades are implemented
  • Escalation into suppliers as and when required
  • Maintains and manages full lifecycle for compute and storage components both physical and cloud
  • Performs auditing of Infrastructure both physical & cloud
  • Delivery of end to end delivery of technical change. This could be in the form of Projects, Continuous Service Improvements, Enhancements, Implementations and Technical refreshes
  • Ensure that effective system performance/capacity monitoring for all compute and storage services
  • Participate in/host post implementation/major incident reviews

  • Infrastructure availability and mean time between failures
  • Response times to issues/mean time to repair
  • Service continuity test success
  • Policies, procedures and other related documentation are up to date for team's services
  • Continual service improvements
  • Provides accurate and punctual regular and periodic reports, as required
  • No significant security breaches and audits report have appropriate security measures
  • Project deliverables
  • SLA achievement for incident, request, problem and change
Qualifications & Education

  • Educated to degree level in a related technology or engineering field, or relevant industry experience
  • Azure Based Certification
  • Other relevant professional IT Certifications (desirable)
Knowledge and Experience

  • Indepth understanding of Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 and clustering with Hyper-V
  • Firm understanding of Microsoft storage principles, clustering and technologies including NTFS, SMB, Storage Pools, Tiered Storage, iSCSI, MPIO, Dedupe, Stretch and Geo-Clustering, Windows Containers, HA
  • Dell PowerEdge Server Infrastructure or similar vendor
  • Dell / EMC SC Series Storage or similar vendor
  • Solid understanding of NAS, SAN and other storage technologies
  • Patching & Vulnerability Management (WSUS)
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • Good understanding of Active Directory, DNS, WINS, DFS, GPO
  • Firm understanding of network technologies, IP v4 / Subnetting
  • Excellent understanding of Intel and AMD chipset roadmaps and server infrastructure
  • Solid current working knowledge of IaaS & Storage services within Azure including Blob, Disk and Table storage.
  • Solid understanding of backup technologies and approaches
  • Azure ASR and Backup and synchronisation of data between on premise and cloud solutions
  • Experience analysing, troubleshooting, and providing solutions for technical issues
  • Demonstrable experience of building strong and productive relationships with key business customers
  • Able to communicate up and down the management chain, providing the appropriate message to the audience
  • Supporting peers. Mentoring junior infrastructure engineers and contributing to a cohesive team
Personal Attributes

  • Excellent understanding of change management within a medium or large org
