Due to continued success, a new and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Snows Motor Group as a
Used Car Buyer.

The
Used Car Buyer will be an operational member of the Dealership Team and will report to the Sales Manager and the Franchise Manager.

The role is primarily to purchase vehicles from multiple sources to assist the dealerships achieve their sales and financial targets.


Based in the South and South-West of England, Snows Motor Group is an AM Top 50 automotive retailer covering 20 brands across 54 franchises.

Your day

  • Assisting the Sales Manager in ensuring that optimum used stock levels are maintained to maximise used car sales opportunities.
  • Ensure that used cars are purchased at the correct market value reflecting their age and required preparation costs to comply with Snows used car policy.
  • Ensure the procurement and supply of quality used vehicles in order that sales departments can achieve financial and volume targets
  • Develop approved relationships with manufacturers, auction houses and other trade contacts in pursuit of stock acquisition
  • Make purchases in line with the defined stock profile and individual requirements of each business
  • Provide advice and support to Sales Management in respect of retail and trade valuations
  • Provide detailed analysis/reports on purchase activity
  • Monitor 60+ day stock and advise on price realignment and assist in disposal / intercompany transfers
  • Monitor vehicle sales mix and volumes to ensure correct replenishment of stock
  • Conduct due diligence in respects of vehicle condition, service history, number of previous owners, outstanding finance, warranted mileage and previous accident damage
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Snows Approved Used Vehicle Programme
  • Always operate within company policy
  • Monitor and provide feedback on the trends and market conditions at auction

  • Knowledge and experience of the retail motor industry, with the ability to accurately appraise vehicles.

  • Exceptional customer facing and interpersonal skills.
  • An excellent negotiator, confident with the ability to effectively communicate persuasively with others, passing on information accurately and promptly.

  • Sound knowledge of the FCA and Code of Conduct guidelines
  • Strong written and verbal English skills
  • Knowledge and experience of using systems designed to assist with car appraisals
  • PC, Microsoft, web literate.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
