Job overview


A vacancy has arisen in the Nottingham Children's Hospital, Family Health Division for a full time Patient Pathway Administrator (Audio Typist) to support our well established team.

Core working hours are Monday to Friday, between 8am to 4pm.

This vacancy will be based at the City Hospital, with the possibility of a requirement to cover work at the Queen's Medical Centre as required.


Working as part of a team the post-holder will provide high quality audio typing and an administrative service to consultants and their teams.


You will need to be a fast and accurate audio typist and a sound knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.

Main duties of the job

Accurately transcribing outpatient clinic letters and miscellaneous clinical correspondence including advice and guidance to a high standard with specified timescales.

Responsible for the production of discharge summaries, clinical papers and material for publication from either audio or copy typing.

Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines.

Undertake peer audit of clinical correspondence to ensure a high standard of accuracy and quality of work.


Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner ensuring timely handover to relevant staff.

To undertake other specialty specific duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures to facilitate the patient pathway.

Ensure patient data quality is accurate at all times.

Working as part of a team the post-holder will provide high quality audio typing and an administrative service to consultants and their teams.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • RSA 3 word processing or equivalent experience
  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent Grade C or above (must include English)
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Fast and accurate audio typing experience (in a work setting)
  • Proven admin / office experience
  • Experience of using Microsoft office packages
Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of working in the NHS and experience using Medway PAS and Notis
  • Understanding of Medical terminology

  • Must be able to clearly and accurately convey information verbally gathered from both verbal and documented reports
Analytical

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
