North Manchester General Hospital is part of Manchester Foundation Trust and the Facilities staff employed provide an integral service to the smooth running of the hospital.

We are now looking for staff to help us to continue to deliver excellent support services to the hospital.


As a Domestic Supervisor you will ensure domestic staff deliver a full and comprehensive cleaning service to wards and departments within North Manchester General Hospital.

The primary function of the service is general cleaning within the hospital environment, including clinical and patient areas such as the emergency department, Theatres, patient bedroom/bathrooms along with all other non-clinical areas, such as infection cleans, office and public areas.

You will be responsible for the day to day running of the team.


You will be required to provide a high quality responsive, efficient and effective patient support service to wards and departments within North Manchester General Hospital acting in a caring and professional manner and ensuring we meet the National Cleaning Standards required.


  • To ensure the day to day domestic work is carried out effectively by the domestic team.
  • To manage and reorganise the work of team members schedules taking into account unforeseen circumstances (e.g. sickness absence).
  • To assist and provide a full cleaning service to sterile areas, offices and departments in accordance with work schedules and activity within the area.
  • To support the Domestic Services manager with the introduction of new and innovative working methods.
  • To oversee the day to day running of the department in the absence of the Domestic Services Manager, escalating issues as necessary to senior Facilities staff.
  • To deal with queries and comments in a professional and understanding manner, referring when necessary to the Domestic Services manager.
  • To assist with the investigation of complaints.
  • To ensure Ward managers and Matrons are informed of any potential problems within Domestic Services which may affect service provision.
  • To assist in basic classroom and on the job training for new starters.
  • To ensure all staff are trained on any new cleaning equipment, products and methods/ techniques which are introduced and that these are adhered to by all staff.
