Knauf UK & Ireland are a market-leading manufacturer of lightweight building materials for the construction industry. We are part of the Knauf Group, the world's largest producer of gypsum-based products for the construction industry.

We are currently recruiting for a
Plant Operator to join our Warehouse team in
Sittingbourne, Kent.

In a nutshell you will.
You are expected to operate safely, correctly and efficiently while maintaining a strict clean-as-you-go policy at all times.

You are expected to carry out basic visual inspection of all products entering the goods in area, with continuous quality checks and monitoring.

Communication is essential and you are expected to start and end with a clear accurate shift handover to ensure everyone is aware of any problems being encountered.


Duties of the MPO:


  • You are required to follow company health and safety procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and others
  • You are expected to always comply with all quality systems to the best product possible. To ensure a consistent approach you are expected to follow standard operating procedures.
  • You are expected to operate cleanasyougo standards in line with the 5S methodology, 'A place for everything & everything in its place' to ensure overall efficiency in the workplace
  • You are expected to check all product that is brought to the goods in area. Checking product for quality, pack quantity, correct labelling, and sufficient packaging ie correct amount of bearers/wrap.
  • Ensure stock accuracy is adhered to by keeping record of all acceptable products placed into allocated stock locations, and by communicating with production on quantities received per hour.
  • Whilst production are not operating, replenishing stock from dynamic area and any other duties given by duty chargehand.
  • You are expected to place all stock in allocated locations, stacked in straight lines with adequate spacing between stacks and to ensure maximum stacking heights where profile of product permits. Any issues with profile/board quality to be reported to duty chargehand in the first instance.
  • To ensure a full understanding when arriving and leaving shift, you are expected to give a handover report at the end of shift and receive a handover at the start of shift
  • You are expected to participate in any project or process improvement, taking a lead on identifying improvements and playing a key role in implementing any resultant changes.
  • You are expected to liaise closely with other shift workers to maintain standards and drive improvements

Requirements:


  • Ability to read and analyse a production plan.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of warehousing and production processes.
  • Knowledge of working within quality systems.
  • Level headed under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of working within health and safety regulations.
  • Current Forklift Truck license (Counterbalance)
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to work a fiveshift pattern.
