This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Senior Support Workers/Shift Leaders to join a one of our support living or semi-independent homes, supporting young people aged 16-25 with Mild Learning Disabilities requiring support with emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties.


  • Have a minimum of two years of experience working with service users
  • Have work experience and knowledge of Learning Difficulties
  • Be experienced in leading a shift
  • Qualified to a minimum of QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care

Able to commit to a 24 hour shift pattern and work weekends.

8am - 8am, 11pm-7am is sleep 1 day on 2 days off on a rolling shift pattern [40 hours per week]

Main list of duties include, but not exhaustive

  • To safeguard and promote the welfare and health of all Service Users within the Home, including the protection from any harm/exploitation.
  • To provide activities, support and structure for our transitional service users in the home ensuring appropriate levels and standards of supportive care.
  • To be responsible for shift leading, supervising and providing support and guidance to Support Staff.
  • To manage budgets for the Home and Service Users' allowances.
  • Attend LAC review meetings.
  • Liaise with CQC, Ofsted and other external party as and when required
  • Prepare shift plans.
  • To assist with the induction of new staff by providing them with work shadowing opportunities and contribute to staff development by support and monitoring.
  • To deputise in the absence of the deputy manager and or registered manager.
  • To maintain standards of good practice at all times, establishing purposeful and constructive relationships and appropriate role modelling so as to assist with the development of their life, activities, education, social skills and personal skills.
  • To maintain and produce required records and reports as necessary to ensure smooth, efficient running of the home.
  • To participate on a shift basis by rota, demonstrating a level of commitment and flexibility to enable the efficient running of the home.
  • To undertake training and utilise learning within the home.
  • Where applicable, to attend to and contribute to any review, case conference and planning meeting as necessary.
  • To contribute to good practice standards within the company by identifying and highlighting service shortfalls and planning methods of development to meet such shortfalls.
To speak up if there are any concerns that may affect maters in respect to any service user.

  • To undertake supervision and monitoring of practice standards within the staff complement.
  • To help with the general upkeep of the household
  • Other duties and responsibilities expressed and implied which arise from the nature and character of the post within the company mentioned above.
