  • Do you have a solid background knowledge of planning policy and are currently looking for the next move in your career or to challenge yourself at a higher level?
  • If so, we are also looking for two Senior Policy Planners to join our team and we would love to hear from you. You will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of tasks across a number of policy areas, whilst also supporting more senior members of the team on more complex projects. Building on your existing experience and knowledge of planning policy and plan making, this role would be an exciting opportunity to further develop your career by helping to shape the future of Greater Cambridge. Opportunities at this level include focusing on neighbourhood planning support which includes working within our Neighbourhood Planning group to guide our communities through the neighbourhood planning process.
  • You will also help to foster a collaborative working environment with colleagues and stakeholders as well as mentoring team members. You will be the crucial to guiding their development through empowering them to deliver projects whilst also fulfilling their potential.
  • We are seeking two Senior Policy Planners to join our team for fixedterm positions.

Neighbourhood Planning focused Senior Policy Planner (2-year fixed term):This role will primarily focus on supporting our communities through the development of neighbourhood plans. You will be a key point of contact, providing guidance and expertise throughout the planning process.

Senior Planning Policy Officer (1-year fixed term):This role offers a broader scope, encompassing both neighbourhood planning and other policy areas. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects including helping to shape an innovative new Digital Local Plan for Greater Cambridge and explore ways to improve the plan making process.

About the Planning Policy and Strategy team

  • The Planning Policy and Strategy team is currently working on a wide range of projects, including developing the first joint Local Plan in an area with the fastest growing city economy in the country, incorporating major regeneration schemes and new developments. We also have clear environmental ambitions and undertaken pioneering work on climate change and meeting net zero carbon to inform our policy development. The team also deals with the Councils' input to the development of significant infrastructure schemes that are prepared by external bodies, including the East West Rail project.
