An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Resuscitation Officer at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust The individual must have a keen interest in Resuscitation and teaching.


You will need to be a motivated and dynamic, have the ability to work independently and work flexibly when required.

You will be expected to deliver all levels of resuscitation training to a multi-disciplinary workforce, be an active member of the Medical Emergency Team/Paediatric Emergency Team and be involved in audit and case note reviews.

The successful applicant will have a primary responsibility for paediatric or community resuscitation training.

Cross site working is essential for the service and willingness and ability to travel between Hospital sites, community sites and external organisations is essential.

This will be a competency-based interview, and applicants will be required to complete assessment tasks as part of this process.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting in the planning, organising and implementing of resuscitation training of all clinical staff employed by the Trust across two sites, and wider health care community


As part of the Medical Emergency team, provide advanced life support skills such as cardiac monitoring, ECG recording and interpretation, cannulation, defibrillation, administration of cardiac arrest drugs/fluids and airway management in accordance to the Trusts policy, the post holders Code of Conduct and Resuscitation Council Guidelines.


Deliver the appropriate level of resuscitation training for external organisations to generate income to further support the Trust's Resuscitation Service activity.


Assist in the production of audit reports highlighting areas of concern related to resuscitation (for example, training, documentation and equipment issues) Develop strategies to address these issues in collaboration with the Head of Resuscitation Services, Ward Managers, Senior Nurses, Heads of Nursing, Heads of Departments and Risk Managers.

Therefore continuously improving the quality of patient care and promoting best practice within the Trust with reference to the CQC requirements.

CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain Professional Registration

Adhere to relevant Code of Practice of Professional body


Provide research-based specialist advice regarding advanced life support; provide in-depth procedural and policy knowledge relating to resuscitation issues to all Trust staff and the wider health community.


Act as a specialist Resuscitation resource with the ability to adapt across a wide range of specialities including A&E, Maternity, and Critical Care Areas.


Provide clinical support, analytical and judgement skills and expertise during attendance at cardiopulmonary arrests and medical emergencies, acting as a team leader where necessary and debriefing staff.
