Job summary:

Forest Services Plant Health Forestry Team is a national team, with staff distributed throughout England.

Our work is directed towards protecting and improving the health of the country's forests, woods and trees, providing specialist surveillance for pests and diseases and undertaking primary site investigation on sites of suspicion.

The team has an important role working with internal and external colleagues to develop expertise within the organisation and the sector, disseminating Tree Health information to stakeholders, and scanning horizons to identify and mitigate for new tree health risks and threats.


Job description:


Key Work Areas including:


Administrative Support

  • Accurately record information and data to entered into the OPM database
  • Maintain a log of all enquires for review on a regular basis for reporting purposes
  • Work in conjunction with other team members to maintain accurate records so they are consolidated and easily interpreted
  • If required support other administrative roles in the wider tree health programme
This post is based at Bucks Horn Oak near Farnham GU10 4LS or Nobel House, Westminster SW1P 3JR.

Travel is not integral to the role; however support at events may require occasional, and infrequent, time away from home.


General Administrative Support

  • Provide a central point of contact for the OPMCP
  • Data gathering, processing, and cleansing
  • Maintain contacts list
  • Circulate updates
  • Routine admin tasks such as filing, printing, scanning

Handling Public Enquiries

  • Deal with public and staff enquiries appropriately
  • Log enquiries for reporting purposes and gather information to update log Be available to handle stakeholder enquiries

Person specification:


Essential

  • Being confident using Microsoft Office products, including Outlook and word
  • Gather information from various (internal and external) resources in response to requests for information

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Oak Processionary Moth and other pests of oak trees
