Recroot are looking for a Venues Operation Officer to join our client based with Lambeth Council.

This role is starting immediately, you will be working Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm - initially for a 3 month contract.

Main purpose of post

To work with the Head of Events Filming to plan and implement a sales and marketing strategy for venue hire, banqueting and wedding sectors within the boroughs indoor venues and selected third party venues, known as the Lambeth Venue Collection.
To develop and manage safe venue hire services in order to ensure the best possible practice and that all events are delivered in accordance with council policies and objectives. Working in conjunction with key stakeholders, supporting staff and the wider events service team.
To take an operational approach to event delivery, advising stakeholders, partners, internal and external agencies and other services within the authority.
Undertake sales calls with regional and national event planning agencies and wedding planners as well as with local meeting and event bookers.
To organise venue site visits, showcase events such as familiarisation visits and hosted-buyer events for meeting planners, agencies etc.
To work with, retain and increase revenue from clients through indoor venue hire sales and bookings for conferences, meetings, weddings and private hire events.
To manage and develop client accounts, new business leads and relationships ensuring high standards are maintained at all times.
To manage an achieving venue hire sales team including team meetings, staff motivation, key performance indicators, staff appraisal and reviews.
Regular work onsite at indoor venues is required during evening and weekends and on call as required.

Responsibilities

Support and deputise for the Head of Events & Filming on all matters relating to service provision and developing sustainable event models. Act as operational point of contact for events that impact the borough.
Take operational lead and responsibility for a safe delivery for the event management of complex and diverse events programming within the Lambeth Venue Collection.
Work with team members to actively generate income and manage potential sales opportunities from public and private bodies, charities and trusts for the annual programme of events, highlighting those that should be progressed. Identify areas of potential growth and gaps in current programming using creative solutions to bring a wide range of venue hire across Lambeth Venue Collection with mínimal risk to the council.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the market to identify new potential clients and make intelligent proposals to clients. Continually developing new business and building long-term relationships with existing clients.
