We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to be appointed as
Locum Consultant Anaesthetist **and join the friendly, supportive and dynamic Anaesthetic Department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Specialist areas of interest covered in these jobs include
UGI / Thoracic Anaesthesia, Airway Anaesthesia, Neuro Anaesthesia.
Nottingham University Hospitals Trust was created by the merger of Queen's Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital. There are Anaesthetic Departments based at each campus, both are large and active departments which have close operational links.
The Anaesthetic Departments are also integrated with the Critical Care and Pain Management Services, which with Theatres form the Clinical Support Division (CSD).
In July this year NUH also took over operations at the Treatment Centre, an ISTC that is co-located on the QMC site.
The Divisional Director for CSD is Dr Thea De Beer and Acute Pathway Lead (comprising Theatres, Anaesthesia & Critical Care) is Dr Hannah Sycamore.
There is, in addition, a Head of Service on each campus; Dr Sumera Hussain at the City campus and Dr Chris Harber at the QMC campus.
Working for our organisationAcross the two campuses there are a total of 57 operating theatres. All surgical specialties are covered between the two campuses.
With regard to specialties - cardiac, thoracic, renal and burns and plastics are located at the City campus which is also where most of the cancer surgery is undertaken.
The QMC anaesthetic department supports a very significant acute surgical workload, including trauma orthopaedics, major trauma, neurosurgery and spinal surgery.
Colorectal, Hepatobiliary, Vascular, ENT, MaxFax and Opthalmology are also based at QMC. There is an obstetric unit at each site. Nottingham Children's Hospital and all of paediatric surgery is co- located at the QMC campus. In addition we have an expanding pre-operative unit and acute pain services at each site. In addition the recent acquisition of the TC where there are 5 day case theatres represents a huge opportunity to expand and develop day case anaesthesia.
