    Role of Department

    The London Tax Department is comprised of a dynamic team of tax professionals managing Liberty's global risk solutions international (GRSI) internal tax matters and compliance processes as well as supporting other internal functions and businesses across Liberty's global insurance and reinsurance network.

    This role is to provide a comprehensive direct tax and reporting service to GRSi.

    Reporting to the Tax Compliance & Reporting Senior Manager and working with the Tax Compliance & Reporting Managers, the successful candidate will assist in the preparation of all the GRSi legal entity tax computations, financial reporting and co-ordination of European branch tax returns with third party advisers. The successful candidate will have good knowledge of UK corporation tax and accounting standards and be an effective communicator (both written and verbal). When required they will assist the Head of Tax Compliance & Reporting, Tax Risk & Governance Senior Manager and Transfer Pricing Senior Manager to propose tax accounting positions.

    The successful candidate will focus on European tax compliance and reporting, however GRSi is expanding into Asia Pac, South and Central America, the role will naturally expand to manage the tax compliance of those areas.

    Key Responsibilities (not exhaustive):

    • Overseeing UK & European Corporation Tax Compliance (including General & Lloyd's insurers).
    • Monthly, quarterly and year end US GAAP, UK, and Lux GAAP reporting.
    • Preparation of draft responses to and manage correspondence with tax authorities.
    • Monitoring and controlling the tax payment processing.
    • Monitoring and controlling the tax service invoice and SoW process.
    • Monitoring and controlling the London Tax departments Mail inbox.
    • Overseeing the reconciliation and control of the tax ledgers including proposing tax journals for all entities and branches.
    • Preparing Corporate Interest Restriction forecast and submissions.
    • Overseeing and assisting with CbCr submissions.
    • Preparing and overseeing the Withholding Tax return process.
    • Provide ad-hoc assistance where necessary (i.e. PSA, R&D, UK GPA, Planning/Forecasting etc.)

    The successful candidate guided by their Manager will work collaboratively with the Head of Tax, Indirect Tax Team and Tax Change Leader in various projects and tax reporting.

    Other Responsibilities Include (not exhaustive):

    • Supporting the Head of Tax Compliance & Reporting Manager and team.
    • Supporting the Indirect Tax team and Transfer Pricing and the Tax Risk & Governance Senior Managers as required.
    • Documenting and managing tax correspondence with tax jurisdictions.
    • Supporting the business on general direct tax matters.
    • Liaising with external professional advisors to ensure direct tax computations are correct.
    • Providing administrative support to the tax team to assist in tax communications to the wider Liberty business.
    • Keeping up to date with tax legislative developments.
    • Preparation of draft financial reporting associated with the GRSi companies for review (UK and Lux).
    • Assisting in provision of tax input to the financial planning and forecasting teams.
    • Assisting with cash tax payments.

    • Assisting with employer compliance issues as required.
    • Adhering to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to GRSi's commitment to placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. GRSi expects you to understand your responsibilities relating to all regulatory and internal requirements, and to proactively demonstrate compliance with these requirements and behaviours at all times. These requirements include Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest, and Whistleblowing.

    Requirements, Skills and Qualifications:

    • At a minimum a newly qualified ACCA, ACA or CTA (or equivalent).
    • Experience within Financial Services either in industry or a large accountancy firm preferable.
    • Excellent team player with an ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
    • Must be able to effectively build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Lloyds market experience an advantage.
    • Proven ability to plan and achieve deadlines.
    • Good working knowledge of Thomson Reuters OneSource tax package.
    • Knowledge of SAP desirable.
    • Good UK tax compliance knowledge.
    • Strong UK, FRS102 and US GAAP knowledge desirable.
    • An awareness of Solvency II would be advantageous.
    • Proven track record of collaborating to delivering pragmatic solutions to internal stakeholders.
    • Have a professional (or global blue chip) background with Financial Services experience.
    • Working knowledge of Solvency II tax issues would be advantageous.
    • Ability to learn and use a variety of accounting systems.
    • Excellent admin and able to manage priorities.
    • A second language helpful, but not essential.
    • Good Microsoft Excel skills required.
    • A self-starter, with proven ability to assist implement new procedures and take ownership in delivering solutions.
    • A willingness to travel would be advantageous.
