Salary:
Competitive Salary with potential progression to £84,644 per annum

_ An exciting opportunity to be the professional lead for sustainability, with a wide-ranging remit to lead and coordinate ambitious sustainability goals and priorities across a university ranked in the top 100 universities globally._


The University of Birmingham is seeking to appoint the Head of Sustainability senior role with a wide-ranging remit to lead and coordinate delivery of the sustainability goals and priorities across the University, as set out in our Birmingham 2030 Strategic Framework.


Working alongside our Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Sustainability), as well as members of the University Executive Board, senior academics who teach and research in sustainability, the Directors of Estates, Campus Services, Finance and their teams, and staff and students across the institution, you will support the University to deliver our sustainability ambitions.

This is an exciting opportunity to be the professional lead for sustainability in a large and complex institution.

You will work collaboratively across the organisation to develop plans to deliver our ambitious sustainability targets, provide expertise and positive challenge to ensure we achieve our targets, grow our external profile and reputation in this area, and ensure we are collecting and monitoring the data we need to track our progress.

Working with our whole staff and student community to build a culture where everybody contributes to sustainability and reduces our environmental impact.

Above all, you will make things happen.


With a proven track record of leading the development and implementation of policies which have brought about operational and cultural change within large complex organisation.

Strong project management skills and confidence in working with, analysing and presenting data is vital.

You will possess the intellectual confidence, gravitas and communication skills required to work collaboratively with a wide range of senior colleagues and to act as an external ambassador for the University.
