The Role


The main purpose of this role is to control and direct the activity of a team of Production personnel to achieve specific KPIs to ensure the smooth running of the production process.

The role is required to ensure that all products are produced to the specified specifications, target and deadlines are met to achieve the orders.

To ensure that all direct reporting staff comply with the company's policies and procedures


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • To take full responsibility of the Spray Lay UP department in terms of management of staff, management of production and quality targets to ensure the smooth running of the production processes.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring that all Health and Safety requirements and procedures are adhered to, including the correct use of all Personal Protective Equipment and also the maintenance of appropriate housekeeping standards.
  • Adherence to Quality Systems through management of the team and process to deliver agreed product specifications as defined in quality standards and policies.
  • Involved in drafting and formatting of Work Instructions working with relevant personnel to coordinate the content. Follow through to document release and training completion.
  • Manage, develop and motivate direct reporting staff. Create and maintain an environment which is aligned to the company core values and promote participation within direct reports and support groups.
  • Record, monitor, measure and report on KPI's, this will include driving performance and accountability through the PIT meeting structure.
  • To ensure that there is a good communication flow between all members of staff.
  • Cross functional collaboration on identified projects/issues is required.
  • Liaise (as necessary) with line manager and Human Resources for guidance & direction on Employee Relations matters and any other staff issues as they arise.
  • Responsible for employee contract reviews, performance reviews, manpower planning and recruitment.
  • Line management responsibility for the team including; schedule and keep track of team members' attendance, return to work meetings, approving holiday requests team morale, performance review and appraisals meetings.
  • To have an active role in the company's continuous improvement/lean plan to achieve plans for future growth within the company. This will include taking a leading role in improvement projects.
  • To ensure that the training skills are met for current and future demands.
  • Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers. This may include full responsibility for securing the premises.
  • Interact with business systems when required (IFS).
  • Ensuring equipment and tooling is maintained and reporting any faults.
  • This role will be required to act as the First Aider for the department and would therefore be required to undertake first aid training and provide first aid as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to take ownership and deliver results

  • Manage conflict and ensure a positive outcome.
  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • A strong understanding of the principles and tools of lean manufacturing
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office tools
  • Proficient numerical ability to record interpret and analyse key process data
  • Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in a Manufacturing/Production Supervisory role in a manufacturing facility ideally with experience working shift work
  • Proven ability to drive change in a continuous improvement environment
