    This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cardiff and Vale University R&D for a Research Nurse to become part of a growing and dynamic research delivery team.

    This role will be supporting exciting and innovative research within the department.

    We are seeking to employ a band 5 Registered Nurse with clinical and/or research experience with an interest in infectious diseases who will bring enthusiasm and have a desire to develop.

    The post holder will be based at the University Hospital of Wales and will be employed to support the growing infectious disease/sexual health portfolio of studies.

    Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

    Funding is provided by Health and Care Research Wales supports NHS Research and Delivery (R&D) Departments led by a R&D Director to provide local services for research support and facilitates the sponsoring and hosting of studies within UHB's across Wales. Part of this service includes a NHS research delivery team consisting of Research Nurses, Clinical Studies Officers, Research Officers and Administrators, employed by NHS organisations to support the delivery of high quality health and social care studies.

    Main duties of the job

    The post will contribute to the assessment and management of the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials. This will include the recruitment, education, monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.

    The post will mainly involve caring for patients through infectious disease trials for example, patients with HIV, TB, Hepatitis, Covid, Flu, pneumonia and bloodstream infections. Recruitment is often on acute wards or the emergency department within the hospital.

    The role will involve an element of flexible working in line with the needs of the service and individual clinical trial requirements.

    The post holder will be based in the Clinical Research Facility within the University Hospital of Wales.

    The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Registered Nurse. Current registration with NMC. Evidence of continued professional development. Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC professional code. Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Evidence of previous patient/client and Multi Disciplinary Team contact within work environment. Clinical experience gained in NHS. Proven record of meeting targets. Ability to communicate complex information to patients/carers/members of MDT. Team player whilst possessing ability to work independently. Well organised and able to plan own workload. Diplomatic. Positive attitude and respect for others. Drive enthusiasm and commitment to the organisation. Ability to travel within geographical area. Flexible approach to work. On call system in place.
