Working for the nursing team within radiology, for patients attending radiology for interventional proceduresAssisting the radiologist with non
- vascular interventional procedures, such as drains, biopsies and aspirations, within all modalities in radiology.
- To be part of the clinical team working within the radiology department
- To work without direct supervision using own initiative within the level of competency set down for this post.
- Recording and monitoring of vital signs
- Assisting with the admission and discharge of patients in the day case units within radiology
- Preparation of equipment and stocking up
- Recording of procedures and post procedural care on EPR
- Assisting patients with the actives of daily living
- Effective communication with patients and colleagues
- To ensure that patient privacy and dignity are respected at all times
- Ensure that all queries are attended to as soon as possible, answering the telephone efficiently, conveying any messages to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensure that patient care is optimised by communicating relevant information in a timely and accurate fashion.
- To ensure and maintain cleanliness and organisation in all areas of the ward in line with infection control audits and regular inspections.
- Promote the professional image of the Trust by maintaining at all times a neat appearance and helpful manner, paying particular attention to the need to deliver high standards of care, in accordance with the Trust's policy quality standards and the Patient's Charter.
- Ensure that at all times the policies and working practices of the Trust are observed particularly in relation to confidentiality.
3.1 Clinical Duties

- Demonstrates own skills and responsibilities to other members of staff.
- Is an effective team member.
- Participates in the implementation of new policies & guidelines under the guidance of the lead nurse.
- Participates in risk assessments, so that near misses and incidents are reported correctly.
- Provides assistance and support to qualified team members within their scope of knowledge and ability.
- Completes orders for stock and nonstock requirements and maintains adequate stocks levels.
- Performs electronic documentation on EPR including the admission of new patients arriving on the unit.
- Undertakes errands as required.
- Assists in the overall tidiness of the unit.
- Assist nursing staff as required with cleaning, tidying and preparation of any clinical duties.
- Works within own capability in a professional manner
- To demonstrate an awareness of utilising resources effectively and to share ideas with their line manager of any cost releasing efficiency savings
- Participate in regular supervision.
- Attend all mandatory training.
- Participate annually identifying, developing and agreeing your own development plan with your Line Manager using the Trust Appraisal.
- Comply with all Trust policies, procedures and protocols.
- Carry out duties with due regard to the Trust's Equal Opportunity Policy.
- Seek advice and support from Line Manager whenever necessary.
- Maintain professional conduct including appearance at all times.
- Ensure maintenance of Professional Registration.
