About the role:


This is a fantastic opportunity to join our External Relations Team to plan events, raise funds and awareness of The Living Room on our mission in breaking the cycle of addiction for adults in Hertfordshire through free group therapy.

Community Fundraising:

You will gain experience in researching, writing and submitting local funding bids and promoting one off and continuous donations.

You will also be creating positive relationships with local organisations by being passionate about The Living Room and making connections in your community.

Fundraising Events:

Whether it's a classic quiz night, sponsored walk, or something a bit out of the box, you will have the opportunity to organise and plan a range of fundraising events for our supporters, the local community, and corporations.

Building a Community:

Our supporters are at the heart of what we do.

A key part of your role will be finding new ways to work with them to build on our community of volunteers and others passionate about The Living Room.

You will be using our CRM to manage new supporters and analyse data to create the most effective campaigns.


Person Specification

Personal Skills:

Strong ability to build and maintain relationships. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Keen attention to detail and high level of accuracy. A friendly 'can do' approach. Creativity with fundraising activites and stakeholder engagement.

Technical Skills:

Digital literacy - Office 365, Canva, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIN, YouTube, WYSIWYG. High standards of written communication. Ability to utilise data effectively for planning and reflection is desirable.

Time-management Skills:

Ability to prioritise, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines. High standards of organisation, initiative, and motivation. Project planning skills are desirable.


Main Responsibilities:
Community Engagement


  • Raise local knowledge, awareness and relationships, across Hertfordshire.
  • Connect with corporations to link with The Living Room through their Corporate Social Responsibility and encourage longterm support and partnerships.
  • Encourage supporters to raise funds 'on behalf of' and 'in aid of' The Living Room.
  • Represent The Living Room at local events.

Main Responsibilities:
Local Fundraising


  • Research, write and submit local area funding bids.
  • Promote local support for oneoff and continuous donations.
  • Oversee community events to raise funds in aid of The Living Room.
  • Communicate and encourage County and District Councillors to support The Living Room.
  • Promote and increase uptake for regular giving.
