Akton recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for an experienced adminstator in the Islington area.

Must have experience of banking services and ability to use excel essential


Key responsibilities

To be responsible to the Executive and Head of Children's Centre for providing effective confidential administrative and financial support to ensure the smooth running of the Children's Centre service.


  • To take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons who you come into contact with.
  • To be the first point of contact for all visitors to the centre, providing information or referring to the appropriate member of staff.
  • To provide word-processing skills for the production of letters/reports and publicity material as required in connection with the duties of the post.
  • To provide general clerical/administrative duties including minute taking for meetings, photocopying, filing, record keeping, maintaining diaries, receipt/distribution of post etc.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance of confidential children's/families records and to liase with relevant bodies.
  • To use and maintain the computer packages provided for the input of data and extraction of information and be responsible for preparing and providing monitoring and statistical information and regular reports as required by centre management. EYSMT and funder terms and conditions.

Experience and Skills

  • Three years administrative experience with mínimal supervisions
  • Experience of providing administrative support to a team of mangers/staff
  • Two year experience of using windows based IT and bespoke databases
  • Sound knowledge and welldeveloped skills in the use of ICT, particularly the operation of work processing, database and spreadsheet programmes
  • Ability to work to own initiative, organise own workload without direct supervision Interview
  • Ability to type 40 wpm. A typing test will be given)
  • Ability to record minutes and provide administrative support at meetings
  • Ability to acquire a working knowledge of the centres accounting procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, on the telephone and face to face
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people
