Vacancy Description


We have a vacancy for a Property Taxation Inspector, to work within a busy team responsible for the taxation of properties for Council Tax and Business Rates.


The duties will involve:

  • Making regular site inspections for all new build properties to ensure that they are included on the relevant rating lists.
  • The monitoring of all properties where the owners have been granted planning permission to alter and improve their properties.
  • The inspection of empty properties to confirm entitlement to appropriate exemptions.
  • Visiting taxpayers in their homes to establish entitlement to Council Tax Disabled Person Relief.


The role of a Property Taxation Inspector is diverse and you will be in contact with a variety of people and developers.

You should therefore possess excellent communication skills.

You will need to have good organisational skills and the ability to be self-motivating as a lone worker.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year.

Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council's corporate buildings.
