Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).

NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith.

NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog.

As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

About the role

Key Deliverables:


  • Provides centre of excellence and intelligence to the business and external stakeholders in respect of the health of our supply chain including risk exposure. This role provides an advisory function to senior stakeholders including Executive, Board and HMG officials
  • Responsible for managing the commercial assurance resources to deliver the commercial assurance and risk scope of work
  • Responsible for the development and deployment of the NRS Procurement & Supply Chain Integrated Assurance & Approval Plan, linking in with NDA, DESNZ and Government Commercial Function
  • Working with senior Exec Sponsors and Directors to deploy contingency plans and management of supply chain risks to ensure business continuity
  • Responsible for Supplier vulnerability analysis, utilising market and supplier risk intelligence systems and carrying out analytics on commercial data and building NRS's (and supporting wider NDA / DESNZ) supply chain risk management strategy
  • Responsible for ensuring 2nd / 3rd line assurance with independent audits and reviews e.g Antibribery corruption, fraud, 'Red team reviews', insurance/indemnity/PCG claims, underpinning and leading dispute resolutions etc.
  • Support colleague's and senior Director's learning and development through knowledge sharing of commercial risks, trends and supply chain challenges

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Would ideally be MCIPS/MRICS or equivalent
  • Experience of managing complex transactions in a public sector environment
  • Understanding of NEC contracting
  • Experience in driving improvements which have delivered significant efficiencies and improvements
  • Track record of leading and managing senior stakeholder relationships, including interfacing with Government stakeholders
  • Experience of providing assurance and advice to Boards and/or Executive teams in complex operating environments
  • Extensive experience within a project or programme management environment, and a proven assurance track record

Please be aware this role holder requires security clearance, or the ability to obtain said clearance.

There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. For central/multi-site roles, we have various hubs across the UK and can be flexible with base location.
