Main duties of the job

Are you interested in caring for people?

Nottingham University Hospitals are looking to employ motivated and conscientious people to join our friendly and dynamic multi professional teams caring for our patients and their loved ones.

Do you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are able to work under pressure in what can sometimes be a challenging yet very rewarding environment?

Are you able to prioritise and manage your own workload whilst assisting the registered nurse with patient care to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the wards?

We are looking for highly motivated and committed staff to work at Nottingham University Hospitals as Healthcare Assistants (band 2) or Healthcare Assistant apprentices (Apprenticeship salary)across both The Nottingham City Hospital and The Queens Medical Centre.

Dependent on your previous experience, if successful at interview, you will then be invited to interview for either HCA apprentice or HCA post.

The apprenticeships are a great opportunity to develop key skills, knowledge and behaviours to develop your healthcare career and will be undertaken in partnership with Nottingham College to undertake either a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.

Working for our organisation

Since 1st April 2015, NUH has been complying with the National Care Certificate Standards. You will undertake a two-week skills academy and following that must successfully complete the Care Certificate within 12 weeks. Many of these standards will require assessment in the clinical area.

Whilst previous experience of caring for acutely ill patients would be advantageous, we are also interested in hearing from exceptional individuals without this experience.

We want to hear from people with a special talent for caring and compassion, who would be able to go the extra mile to help our patients feel valued and cared for and at all times to treat them with dignity and respect.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

At NUH we take great pride in having in place a team of highly trained Healthcare Assistants to provide quality and compassionate patient care.

These roles are essential to the experience of our patients and their relatives and carers and they complement the clinical care provided by our doctors, nurses, midwives and therapists.

As part of the interview process, if you are successful at shortlisting, you will be expected to complete the Numeracy and Literacy Assessment.

If you are successful at this stage you will then be attending a formal panel interview.

These are highly sought after training opportunities with the prospect of a long-term and rewarding career in the health service.
