We have an exciting opportunity for a
Assistant Buyerto join our amazing team. The role is based in
Lancing, West Sussex (with hybrid working). We will offer you a competitive salary of
£29,326per annum.

The Assistant Buyer:


The
Assistant Buyerwill manage their own categories from beginning to end and build their own ranges with support from the Buyer.


You'll be accountable for ensuring products developed launch on time and the details of product are shared with other departments.


Key responsibilities as our Assistant Buyer:

  • To take control of own product categories and manage range planning with Buyer. Source cost-effective, ethical product for Scout Store and World Scouts
  • Manage the product development process from design brief to launch, liaising with design, marketing and other relevant departments
  • Selecting products in directed categories, working effectively to planned KPIs within OTB frameworks
  • Negotiate with suppliers to maximise profit, monitor sales and react accordingly
  • Propose markdowns and promotions, taking into account margin and sales channel. Ensuring the end to end buying cycle is completed for all products
  • Obtain a clear understanding of the strategy, events and promotional calendar to make relevant trading decisions
  • Develop a dialogue with all sales channels to understand trends, reacting to customer and store feedback
  • Undertake competitor and trend analysis. Monitor the market, identifying competitor activity and its potential impact on the departmental strategy. Attend/lead relevant strategy and sign off meetings
  • Act on behalf of the Buyer when absent and provide supervision to the Buyer's Admin Assistant, mentoring, coaching and developing their progression
  • Prepare and present the best sellers for the weekly trade meeting

What we are looking for in our Assistant Buyer:

  • Previous experience working in a retail environment as a Buyer's Admin Assistant / Assistant Buyer or equivalent role
  • Experience of managing a range plan
  • Experience of creating a critical path
  • Previous design experience
  • Experience with Magento web system
