Planning Engineer

Crewe/Hybrid

6 months Contract

Rate from £36ph either PAYE or Outside IR35
My client is the world's leading manufacturer of luxury cars founded in 1919.

Based in the UK the company employs more than 4000 people around the world, who design, engineer, hand-build and market their cars.

They are looking for a Planning Engineer tojoin the team on an initial contract for 6 months. The position is based at their Crewe offices with a working week of 35 hours Monday to Friday.

Hybrid working there is an expectation of being in the office 3 days a week however there is flexibility aroundthis depending on your workload.


You will be accountable for developing, agreeing and delivering detailed planning requirements and concerns closure for a specific Manufacturing Zone / Technology from Pre-series through series production to EOP.

You must deliver to the established Quality,Cost and Delivery targets whilst ensuring Health and Safety, IATF16949 and VW Standards compliance


Main assignments
-
Technical:


  • Where applicable the Planning Engineer is accountable for ensuring that Manufacturing Feasibility is evaluated in line with PEP.
  • Accountable for delivery of Quality Planning (APQP) processes and activities in Preseries and Series Production ensuring internal and external audit compliance.
  • Accountable for manufacturing signoff of Bid specs and product Brelease inline with project timings and PEP deliverables.
  • Identification of Facility, Jig, Fixture and Tooling requirements
  • Ensure continual updating of technical knowledge.
  • Accountable for developing the settings/parameters of equipment and process
  • Accountable for implementing engineering change introduction within their zones
  • Management of permits and concessions
  • Steer the resolution of issues using the appropriate problemsolving techniques and resources. Drive resolution through cross functional working, influencing others to deliver resolutions where necessary.

Financial:


  • Delivery of processes within established budget targets
  • Management of cost risks
  • Supporting justification for Capital Expenditure Investment
  • Supporting Process improvement workshop activities to achieve production time targets.
  • Steer cost saving activities to reduce operating expense

Planning:


  • Concurrence of replies to Business requirements, Engineering change & technical documentation
  • Generation of deliverable milestones & monitoring detailed Project plans
  • Work in close conjunction with and influence other areas of Manufacturing to ensure a consolidated approach and the continuous development of effective and efficient ways of working
  • Work crossfunctionally and influence changes within products and processes.
  • Work in conjunction with partner organisation to deliver bespoke vehicle production via the technology.
  • Accountable for the analysis of specific technology measurements and controls.

Project Management:


  • Delivery of all projects in accordance with Business requirements and alignment with PEP
  • Proactive avoidance or containment of Project risks
  • Maintaining Key Performance Metrics and coordinate activities to resolve concerns and issues affecting achievement of technology targets

Skills and Expertise

  • Technically proficient in product assembly, process design, facilities and standardised work methodology.
  • Demonstrable experience at cross functional working within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Good working knowledge/experience of processes and business legislation
  • Is able to provide technical support to the productions teams.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and influencing skills at all levels across the business.

Practical and Technical Knowledge

  • Technically competent in product manufacturing processes, group and business processes, process design and standardised work.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and measurement data.
  • Knowledge of key Health & Safety regulations.
  • Ability to converse at all levels within the organisation.
  • Ability to be involved in cross functional teams and projects to achieve business improvement.
  • Knowledge of Product Emergence Process and gateway deliverables.
  • Extensive practical knowledge in Problem Solving Techniques.
  • A comprehension of dimensional management analysis.
  • Ability to evaluate K and P times in line with Manufacturing Business Strategy.
  • A comprehension of measurement techniques
  • Knowledge of dry builds and properties strategy
  • Extensive knowledge of vehicle build processes

Qualifications

  • Higher National Qualification with relevant and demonstrable manufacturing experience, or
  • Equivalent Degree level (preferably Engineering / Manufacturing / science).
