**Field Service Engineer

  • Cabling**
    Salary: £2530k (depending on experience)

Location:
To cover Cambridge, Newcastle or Bristol Area


To provide 24/7 support Nationwide with on call rota (1 week in 4/6) Occasional night shifts may also be required for bulk out of hours migrations.


Responsibilities for the Field Service Engineer:

  • Nationwide travel to perform Cabling and Hardware duties at client's premises, Data Centre's, and Telephone Exchanges.
  • Performing site surveys for WIFI and 4G Coverage nationwide
  • Installing Network, Server and Wi-Fi Hardware and associated cabling.
  • Offering Onsite support for clients.
  • Ensuring hardware is correctly deployed and connectivity is tested and reachable remotely.
  • Performing Pre Cable' and 'Pre deploy' duties in cases where circuits and client sites are yet to be delivered or readied by vendors.
  • Troubleshooting and Investigating circuit connection errors & circuit/hardware down scenarios.
  • Participating in a Rota system to provide out of hours migration/switch over works providing onsite support if required to client premises nationwide.
  • Performing Hardware upgrades on legacy equipment and recabling as instructed.
  • Participating in various planned and unplanned Infrastructure upgrades, faults and expansion projects.
  • Working with Senior Data Centre Technicians to plan in order of received tickets, workload for each day.

Skills/Experience expected for the Field Service Engineer:

  • Field based experience with Copper Cabling
  • Must be local or under a 45 minute commute to one of the following areas: CAMBRIDGE, NEWCASTLE or BRISTOL
  • Confident with hand held tools preferably cable cutters and crimps.
  • Flexible on travel
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Well organised and selfmotivated with the ability to work alone and as part of team
  • Ability to work at height on small to medium step ladders.
  • Willing to stay away on occasion if covering an extended geographical area with multiple site locations.
