Job overview
The Preschool Development Team (PDT) and School Age Learning Disability team has a vacancy for a Band Health Care Assistant to support the work of the service in Wrexham. The post holder would be a highly motivated and competent support worker or nursery nurse with a relevant level of education, training and experience, to join our team in Wrexham.
The service works with children aged - and their families. The Service currently consists of the Pre-school Development Team (for ages -) for children with significant global developmental delays and/or Social Communication Difficulties. The School Age Learning Disability Team (aged -) for children with a learning Disability and associated health need. Both Teams provides both centre based and home based assessments and interventions, as well as working remotely.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will assist on delivering individual and group based interventions with parents and children within both Teams, as well as supporting the wider team of health professionals working into the PDT and school age learning disability service. The post holder will have access to regular supervision to guide and support with the work required.
The role is varied and also includes acting as a point of contact for families within the service, assisting with observations in nursery's, playgroups, schools, or in the home for example, to assist with assessment. Also, undertaking individual work with children and their families where necessary. There will be a requirement also to assist with preparation of communication boards or other intervention materials and basic admin support where needed.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
