This is an exciting opportunity for a HCA with or without experience to come and join our growing team.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated health care assistants to come and join our team on Berman 1.

Main duties of the job

Berman 1 is a mixed sex, respiratory ward. Here we care for patients with pneumonia, COPD, Lung cancer and respiratory failure.


We are looking for a healthcare assistant who is able to prioritise and manage their own workload as well as assisting the registered nurses.

You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

There would be opportunities to become competent in Venepuncture and Cannulation and ECGs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Following appropriate training, you will be expected to;
Participate in the treatment and care of patients under indirect supervision of a registered nurse.

Carry our basic nursing care of the patients, promoting patient safety, comfort, dignity and confidentiality.

Consider available resources to achieve safe care.

Ensure patients are helped to maintain dignity and individuality.

Use initiative in daily planning.

Carry out the role without the need for constant supervision and direction, recognising limitations and seeking supervision when necessary.

Comply with trust policy.

Report all accidents and untoward incidents to the nurse in charge of area.

Report problems with equipment and facilities to the nurse in charge.

Be prepared to attend and undertake any necessary training.

Maintain good communication with other staff, patients and visitors.

Be aware of the need for confidentiality both within the written and spoken word.


Liaise with other clinical areas as necessary for the coordination of patient care and the smooth running of the ward/unit/department.

Collaborate with all members of the clinical area to ensure efficient running of the ward.

Ongoing training and support will be offered.

Qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • Good standard of written and spoken English and numeracy and basic calculation skills
Desirable criteria
- grade A-C in maths and english GCSE or equivalent

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
