The Estate Maintenance Department within Solent NHS Trust, are proud of their high standards and collaborative teamwork and are looking for a like-minded individual who is able to work in public facing spaces.
For this post, you will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to the use of a car.
The Estate Maintenance Department is responsible for operating and maintaining healthcare buildings and services to a safe and compliant level for use by patients, visitors and staff. This also reflects the expectation to innovate and minimise energy wastage where opportunity present and deliver on national and industry centred Net Zero Carbon commitments. The role will be focused on the Hard FM aspects of engineering services maintenance, specialising in building and fabric services.
The maintenance service aligns with the principles of the Estates Strategy and the wider facilities management team and works seamlessly with the Premise Management Team, Estates Projects and Asset Management Team.

Main duties of the job
To undertake planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and emergency works in relation to the building fabric across the estate. Use all skills, experience and knowledge ensuring safe working methods to carry out maintenance tasks in the most cost-effective way for the Trust
To understand the workings of buildings, with an appreciation of engineering services and systems in NHS/Trust premises ensuring that they are maintained to a high standard and that all internal and external areas are utilised in a safe and efficient manner
To carry out work in a timely manner as requested using the agreed works CAFM system and ensuring that any associated information is recorded and where necessary referred back to the Business Administration team
Identify and provide information to the line management team regarding parts and solutions required to remediate situations within the limitations of the job description
Partake in an emergency, Out of Hours rota system and respond to incidents as instructed
About us
We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by July 2024.
Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.
The new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) -- known as TUPE on 1st July 2024. TUPE is a legal process to ensure you transfer out of one organisation and into another, maintaining the terms and conditions of your employment.
