We have an exciting opportunity to work within the Department for Materials Science and Engineering for a self-motivated researcher looking to make an impact in the field of safe disposal of radioactive waste.

You will join the Immobilisation Science Laboratory, to lead a research program utilizing a range of dissolution techniques to determine the durability of ceramic materials under development as plutonium wasteforms.

You will join an international team of researchers (UK, Belgium, Australia) to understand the leaching mechanisms and kinetics of U/Th-containing zirconolite and disposal-MOX materials.

The project will directly support policy decisions regarding the future management of the UK plutonium stockpile.
