**Fabric Maintenance Operative - Kings Cross**Permanent role starting June 2024

My client is a multi site further education college and due to expansion, they're looking for a permanent Fabric Maintenance Operative for one of their sites based in Kings Cross, Central London.
The purpose of the role will be to undertake planned preventative maintenance, testing, repairs and new installation work covering a wide range of equipment, services, systems and buildings associated with the running of the building.
Description and Requirements:
The Fabric Maintenance Operative will support the Management team in the provision of a maintenance Service.
To work safely on mechanical systems in accordance with all statutory mechanical regulations and health and safety legislation and regulations for the following systems:
- Support the Site Operations Manager in the provision of a maintenance Service within the building.
- Comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including Health and Safety legislation and in accordance with Health Technical Memorandums (HTM) and Health Building Notifications (HBN).
- Responsible for undertaking plumbing/fabric planned preventative and reactive maintenance work services throughout designated buildings, in additional to general caretaking activities, ensuring adherence to operational, regulatory, and contractual compliance. In addition, the Fabric Maintenance Operative shall undertake any planned minor installation works or other such project works as required
- Work safely on mechanical systems in accordance with all statutory mechanical regulations and health and safety legislation and regulations as appointed Competent
- Replace shower hoses (flexible type only), fit new plugs to sinks, replace fridge and freezer seals, replace all signs as required, Replace broken toilet seats, fix/remove notice boards, shelving etc
- Carry out works on buildings, building fabric and plumbing as requested. Assist all other engineers and Facilities Officers in the course of their works as instructed and other members of the team.
- Painting and decorating
- Undertake any training as required and provide training, guidance, technical advice and support to trainees and maintenance assistants
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks and duties relevant to the post and grade as may be determined by the Site Operations Manager
We're looking for:
- Essential_
- BTEC/HNC or City & Guilds Craft certificate or equivalent
- A recognised apprenticeship
- Relevant trade experience in plumbing, electrical or joinery
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Good knowledge of H&S Legislation and some knowledge of COSHH
- Basic computer skills
- Desirable but not essential_
- Experience in building maintenance and systems
- Experience working in a FE College, University or hospital environment
