Description

The provision of day to day administration support to Orthotic Services ensuring the delivery of effective and efficient support services.

Close and effective communication with the Orthotists (clinicians) to ensure smooth running of clinics in line with department and Health Board priorities.

Effective and efficient utilisation of the electronic clinical information and appointing system ensuring demand is matched with capacity.

This will be through appropriate utilisation of available appointments, waiting list management and escalating any issues to the Orthotic Services Manager.

First line contact for dealing with patient appointment and other non-clinical enquiries including complaints. Dealing with enquiries from the general public, departmental and other health and social care staff. Sharing good practice and compliments with the team for a positive workplace experience.

Liaison with other hospital and community-based Health Care Professionals such as Podiatrists and Physiotherapists, to support delivery of multidisciplinary services.


To work within the clinical governance framework reporting incidents, dealing with complaints, ensuring health and safety of patients and own environment.

The provision of practical assistance to patients seen in the community/outpatient setting. The procurement of supplies via Oracle from various stock and non-stock sources and ensuring timely receipting. Ensuring appropriate orthotic devices are ordered and supplied in a timely manner in line with clinical guidelines.


Supporting and participating in Orthotic Service and Podiatry and Orthotic department meetings to ensure continuous development and improvement of the service.

Ensuring organization and departmental policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
