An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit to the Head of Locality on a permanent basis.

The successful applicant will join the Families and Integrated Community Care Division to provide strong leadership for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Management and Leadership

  • Ensure service and team level performance is monitored and delivered in accordance with agreed targets and that any areas of underperformance are addressed in a timely manner and corrective action taken.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines, and lead or participate in their development.
  • Establish effective professional multi-disciplinary relationships both within and outside the organisation. Participate in regional and national meetings as appropriate.
  • To take full budgetary responsibility for the locality ensuring effective and efficient use of resources in accordance with the Trust's Standing Financial Instructions.
  • To be accountable for monitoring and maintaining expenditure within the allocated budget. Ensure any concerns are immediately reported to the Associate Director of Nursing and a recovery plan put in place and implemented.
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester.

The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.

The post holder will be responsible for the operational management, development and delivery of community nursing and rehabilitation services within the locality and for ensuring the provision of high quality, safe and responsive services within the available resources.


Support the Divisional Director of Nursing in the development and monitoring of patient-centred clinical practice and best standards of clinical care in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy.


The post holder will work in a collaboratively with all key partners to ensure the service meets the needs of the local population and local and national targets.

Support the development and implementation of revised and agreed care pathways, ensuring improvements are delivered.
