Monitoring & Responding Officer

Akton recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for an experienced Monitoring and Responding Officer / Telecare Support Officer in the Haringey area.

The role is a - 6 months contract role with a chance of extension.


  • All service users to receive high standards of customer care by receiving prompt, courteous
responses, and action in accordance with their needs.


  • To initiate appropriate action in accordance with the procedure guidelines on receipt of
emergency calls maintaining confidentiality.


  • Provide comfort and assistance to clients during an emergency. Responding to calls in person
as required.


  • Make on the spot assessments and decide on the appropriate action, e.g. request assistance
from First Response, call Ambulance, Doctor, Police, Care Agency, Social Services,

Environmental Health, family and friends. To ensure the best solution to the client's

emergency.


  • Carry and operate specialist equipment at all times to assist with manual lifting and the
  • To liaise and co-operate with resident Scheme Managers, Housing Support Officers and client
organisations for the purpose of providing a comprehensive and effective response service.


  • To ensure familiarity and adherence with the Telecare Services Association Code of Practice
and the councils service standards.


Knowledge

  • An understanding of Equal Opportunities and how this might be put into practice.
  • An understanding of Personalisation in Social Care and how that is put into practice.

Skills and Ability

  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal communication
skills

  • Good IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Outlook,
Excel and Word

  • Ability to prioritise work ,manage conflicting deadlines and work to agreed procedures
  • Ability to communicate and liaise with the people who access our services,
relatives and professionals on a day-to-day basis, by phone and in person.

  • To treat people with dignity and respect and involving them in the decision making about their support.
  • Able to promote peoples' rights.
  • Able to encourage and support people to do things for themselves thus promoting independence and empowerment.
  • Able to support individuals when they are anxious or distressed.
  • Able to appropriately support individuals who may sometimes display behaviour that challenges the service.

Experience

  • Experience as a support worker in an adult social care setting or equivalent.
  • Experience of providing a customer focused service
  • Experience of call monitoring and social care databases.

Qualification

  • Health and Safety awareness training.
  • Moving and Handling of People.
  • To note training will be provided but is
essential to complete the role

  • Valid UK Driving Licence and access to a car
