Head of Finance

Circa £70,000 per annum

The Royal Albert Hall is London's most iconic venue and a registered charity held in trust for the nation's benefit.

We enrich people's lives through music and inspirational events, nurture tomorrow's artists, and make our extraordinary building open to as many people as possible.

The world's leading figures in music, dance, sport and politics have appeared on our stage since we opened in 1871, and now over 1.7 million people enjoy up to 400 live experiences here every year, with millions more experiencing our events through broadcasts, recordings and new media channels.

Our public benefit work includes a wide-ranging programme of engagement, outreach, and charitable activities that increase access to music and events.

Our income is £43m and generated through performances, commercial activity, and philanthropic support.

This is an exciting period of renewal for us. We have a new Chief Executive, and will be refreshing our strategic direction. One of our key objectives is strengthening our financial position and we are investing in our Finance Team.

As Head of Finance, you will report to our Chief Operating Officer and lead a professional team of twelve


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic financial advice and leadership to the Hall's Executive Board, Leadership team and budgetholders
  • Leading, managing and developing our Finance team
  • Developing the annual budget strategy and targets with the Chief Operating Officer
  • Reviewing and enhancing financial processes, controls and systems
  • Overseeing the preparation of annual statutory accounts, leading the relationship with our auditors, and ensuring robust compliance


We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with a breadth of experience across financial control, management accounting and budgeting, ideally with experience of working in a charity setting.

An inclusive and compassionate leader, you will support and develop your team to provide a high quality, customer-centric service to our managers and stakeholders.

Excellent communication skills will be important, as you play a visible role delivering financial support to diverse teams across The Royal Albert Hall.
