As a Technical Specialist and member of the Control Systems team, you will lead the development of the Electric Drive Control strategies.

You will be actively involved in project delivery and business development activities, being the face of Electric Drive Control. You will have the responsibility to promote and drive the technology used by capturing research, technology, and business trends. You will also mentor other more junior engineers and support other teams in their design and test activities.

Key Aspects of the role:


  • Provide technical delivery and leadership of Electric Drive Control strategies
  • Capturing and analysing requirements from different stakeholders
  • Design control algorithms & strategies (using MATLAB/Simulink) and autocode generation of productionintent code
  • Design system diagnostics and safety monitoring strategies
  • Support system and hardware DFMEA and functional safety analysis
  • Managing the technical delivery of suppliers
  • Mentor and train less experienced engineers

Qualifications, Functional Experience & Skills

  • A degree or similar in an electrical/electronic or control system engineering
  • Preferred Masters or PhD in electrical engineering control theory
  • Automotive industry experience is not essential, but is preferred
  • Fault finding and diagnosis experience in complex systems
  • Comfortable working closely with clients, often onsite at client locations
  • Experienced advanced user of:
  • MATLAB/Simulink toolchain
  • CAN based calibration and monitoring tools like CANape/INCA and CANalyzer
  • Experience in:
  • The use of software debugging tools
  • The design of functional safety compliant software, as per ISO 2626
  • The use of process assessment models like Automotive SPICE
  • Understanding of:
  • C programming language

  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • This role is based at our Head Office at Birmingham Business Park, 0900 to 1700, including 30minute paid break 5 days a week.
