Community Tutor

Tutor and Assessor Rate 18-30 £23,543 - £33,574 per annum pro rata 30 hours per week

At City College Peterborough we aim to provide an inspiring and inclusive adult education experience that empowers individuals to learn, connect, develop skills, and achieve their goals in a supportive and welcoming environment enabling learners to thrive.

Our community department is looking for two new, inspiring tutors who can help us to engage and support adult learners with diverse backgrounds and a range of abilities to participate in learning, some for the first time for many years.

You will play a pivotal role in enabling learners to develop their skills, confidence, motivation, and resilience and help them to work towards their goals, which can range from finding employment to improving their health and wellbeing.

Additionally, our community course offer also includes family learning courses which aim to aid parents and carers to support their child's development.

Your role includes, amongst other things, creating practical, relatable, and engaging courses in line with the council's priorities; the delivery of these courses; the monitoring, supporting, and recording of learners' starting points, progress, and achievement; and to contribute to the development of the department.

Most courses are delivered in the heart of Peterborough's communities, including schools, family centres, community hubs and places of worship so you must be prepared to travel.

To be successful you will need to be flexible, eager to learn new things, have an ability to build a strong rapport and have a desire to make a difference in the local community.

City College Peterborough is committed to Equality and Diversity and to ensuring the safeguarding of learners and carries out appropriate checks to ensure the suitability of staff working with children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
