Children's & Joint Commissioning Services have a vacancy within the Safeguarding, Assessment & Support teams for an experienced Family Support Worker.

The Safeguarding, Assessment & Support teams work with children & families who are either open on a Child In Need, Child Protection or as a Child In Our Care basis.

The SAS teams work with children until case closure, placed for adoption or who become long term Children In Our care.

The post will involve working closely with families, social workers, team managers, foster carers and other professionals to achieve better outcomes for children.

The successful applicant will not carry a caseload but will work alongside Social Workers and will assist in providing a range of interventions to children and families; for example: direct work with parents/children/young people; provision of transport/escorting children; working with families in their homes including limited assistance with day-to-day living needs, delivering parenting packages, crisis intervention to prevent placement breakdown and promoting positive family relationships.

The post holder will also be required to write detailed legible case notes, write reports relative to the position and update the electronic child's record in a timely manner.
