About The Role:


As a Finance Business Partner, you will be working within a team of 4 Finance Business Partners, with each providing operational and strategic financial support to a range of stakeholders across the organisation.

The role is supported by the wider Finance Team, all based within our Birmingham office, but you will be the key Finance contact for your designated directorates, working with stakeholders across the UK to provide financial advice, insight, and guidance.


The role requires a high level of engagement with stakeholders within the designated directorates to ensure the key delivery and performance drivers are recognised and achieved.

The Finance Business Partner should effectively facilitate and influence sound decision making to support the directorates' ability to achieve the Funds purpose and goals.

The role will require ownership of a range of timely activities that will require strong organisation and communication skills to ensure delivery is achieved within tight timescales


Key responsibilities include:

  • Monthly management account analysis and delivery of insightful commentary into financial performance reports
  • Support directorates to develop and deliver quarterly forecasts and annual budgets and business planning, providing challenge and financial expertise where necessary.
  • Communicate key financial performance updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Support development of business case requests for additional resource and funding.

Essential criteria

  • A minimum of three years working in a finance or other relevant role.
  • At least part qualified and looking to actively progress towards a suitable chartered accounting qualification. (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
  • Business Partnering experience including building strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Advanced communication skills and ability to interpret and analyse data and present findings to relevant senior stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and organise and prioritise workload to manage multiple and often competing priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel to manipulate, interpret, analyse, and report on large volumes of data.
  • Proactive approach to improving ways of working.
  • Prior experience in a public sector environment including grant funding and accounting experience.
