Role Title:
Night Hospital Porter
Location:
East London - Whipps Cross Hospital
Salary:
£11.29 Per hour + Holiday pay
Hours:
Full time - Nights Monday-Sunday rota shifts between 10pm-6am 5 days out of 7 including weekends.
Requirements:
Valid Enhanced DBS Certificate dated in the last 3 years
Role
- Responsible for responding to cardio arrests and providing trolley and supporting equipment to the incident.
- Ensure that all equipment used to undertake the role are to the required standards to support safe working practices.
- Transportation and collection of medical gases to all department and wards regularly.
- Transport patients to and from Xray, wards etc
- Assist with maintaining appropriate records in line with service delivery
- Undertake the delivery of Specimens, Blood samples to the laboratory
- Emergency transportation of patients.
- Ensure all HSE initiatives are managed proactively to ensure a safe working environment.
- Support in the provision of clean linen as and when required;
- Transportation of deceased patients from A&E and/or Wards to mortuary
- Key holders for mortuary out of hours to support with viewings to support legal processes
- Removal of soiled laundry from Wards and theatres ensuring delivered to the Laundry in

- Ensure that all equipment is in a clean and hygienic state weekend cleaning rota of
- Assist with human waste disposal.
- Ensure that all equipment used to undertake the role are to the required standards to
Experience:
- This is a physical role and the postholder will be required to be mobile for the majority of their working day with manual handling being necessary to lift / carry / operate cleaning machinery.
- Ability to read, write and converse clearly in English.
- Basic awareness of Health & Safety working practices.
- Previous experience working within a hospital or service environment preferred.
- Customer service skills including clear verbal communication.
- Understand the importance of patient care, infection control and safety.
- Current Enhanced DBS (CRB) would be advantageous. (We can arrange one for you if you do not have one).
These positions may include working within areas of the hospital currently dealing with Covid-19 patients. All relevant Personal Protective Equipment will be provided, however if you fall into a high-risk category, or suffer from any underlying issues,then please take these into account before applying.
