Overview of the role:


To work as part of a team in preparing and maintaining the classroom, maintaining a safe and healthy environment, undertaking lesson plans and prepare activities for the children.


Key responsibilities:

  • To work as part of a team.
  • Assist with the smooth running of the Nursery & classroom.
  • Help to maintain a high standard Work Cycle.
  • Maintain, prepare and update classroom equipment.
  • Adhere to School Policies, Procedures and practices.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly Staff meetings. (68pm on a Weds evening)
  • Assist with planning and preparing activities within the curriculum.
  • Liaise with Senior staff and team members.
  • Report to Senior/Manager regularly regarding personal progress, team issues.
  • Report absenteeism and sickness to Senior in charge as soon as possible by following the sickness policy.
  • Ensure personal appointments and phone calls are made outside school hours. No mobile phones are permitted to be switched on during working hours (unless circumstances permitdiscuss with Manager/Senior in Charge).
  • Maintain professional conduct and dress code at all times.
  • To ensure confidentiality.
  • Always communicating with respect amongst children, parents and colleagues. (Code of conduct).
  • Help with all duties involved in caring for the children.
  • Informing a senior member of staff if any equipment needs to be ordered or replaced or is damaged.
  • Being able to attend courses relevant and necessary to enhance your effectiveness in this role.
  • Attend to the daily care needs of the children, including nappy changing, changing clothes and toileting.
  • To have a clear DBS and maintain subscription to the update service.

Apprenticeship Summary:

  • You will work towards your Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification across a total duration of 12 months
  • All online/remote learning, no classroom or college day release
  • An allocated tutor will support you throughout the apprenticeship
