Role Summary

Key Tasks

Quality Services

  • Develop resources to support applicants/grant makers to deliver our shared objectives, including guidance documents and best practice
  • Produce reports and thank you letters to trusts and grant makers in a timely manner
  • Manage the administration linked to grants, trusts and legacies, ensuring information is entered and updated accurately onto the database system
  • Act as an ambassador for Halton Haven Hospice, representing the hospice at external events, including a wide variety of networking events and undertake public speaking, when needed
  • Support the department by making presentations at networking events, representing and promoting Halton Haven Hospice, and attend cheque presentations
  • Maintain and develop relationships with trusts and grant makers across Halton by giving required support and encouragement with effective and regular communication
  • Liaise with Fundraising Finance Office to ensure that all budget information is accurate
  • Research suitable funding opportunities and grant maker criteria
  • To manage legacies bequeathed to the Halton Haven Hospice
  • To ensure that the Halton Haven Hospice full entitlement to legacies is received
  • To Identify all reasonable opportunities to maximise the values of the Halton Haven Hospices bequests
  • To ensure that the tax concessions available to charities have been correctly received, including ensuring that our inheritance tax exemption is correctly applied, that our capital gains tax exemption is utilised where viable to do so, and obtaining tax deduction certificates in respect of income tax paid during the administration
  • Maintain an organized filing system, administrative processes and produce timely reports.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the departments business plan and fundraising strategy
  • To attend and contribute to team and departmental meetings
  • Other duties that may, from time to time, be necessary and compatible with the role

Policies and Procedures

  • Understand and comply with the policies and practices of Halton Haven Hospice.
  • Undertaking of policy development and review in line with set schedule of work
  • Attend statutory training in accordance with Halton Haven Hospice requirements.

Health and Safety

  • The post holder must familiarise themselves with matters relating to health and safety management as they affect them personally and/or Halton Haven Hospice reporting any potential risks to life or property immediately in accordance with the Halton Haven Hospice Health & Safety policy and procedures. Staff must use all equipment provided to undertake their role safely.

Other

  • Maintain absolute confidentiality in all areas of work.
  • Always behave with complete integrity, respect and professional dignity ensuring actions enhance the reputation of themselves and the charity.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and post.

Safeguarding

  • It is the responsibility of the Hospice Trustees to oversee the implementation of the Safeguarding policies, supported operationally by the Executive Management Team.
  • While the Registered Manager has primary legal responsibility for safeguarding at the Hospice, it is the everyday responsibility of each member of staff to actively safeguard our patients, service users and their families. All staff, volunteers and trustees working for, or on behalf of, Halton Haven Hospice
  • Have a duty to not only promote the welfare and safety of adults at risk but to also report incidents of potential or actual harm.
  • Safeguarding Adults training, Safeguarding Children training, and Prevent Awareness training are mandatory for all staff members.

  • Ensuring compliance and producing reports for stakeholders in respect to the Hospice's compliance with Equality and Inclusion criteria.

Part-time hours: 15 per week
