We are looking for someone on an interim basis months) who has a demonstrable track record of leading and managing highly performing teams, a strong focus on customers, experience of improving financial systems and processes and a sound knowledge of revenues and benefits legislation and practice.Hybrid working is available (3 days in the office 2 days at home).
Experience
- Track record of assisting in the leadership of a major service area that has delivered successful outcomes through collaboration, engagement and enablement of staff, service users and other stakeholders.
- Evidence of playing a role in transforming the delivery of a service through strategic leadership, collaboration across services, partners and innovative change.
- Experience of establishing and maintaining an outcome focused team which develop staff potential and address underperformance and inefficiency whilst introducing new ways of working.
- Recent experience leading and managing revenues & benefits teams in a local authority context.
Skills, knowledge and aptitude
- Demonstrates co-operative values and ways of working as well as experienced in challenging and persuading others to understand the benefits of this way of working.
- Well-developed technical, professional and legislative knowledge and understanding of national policies, statutory requirements, relevant frameworks and accountabilities in relation to revenues & benefits.
- Able to work effectively in a political environment with a high degree of political awareness and sensitivity, providing clear professional advice and rationale.
- Established networks of influence which can be harnessed to support the work of the Council.
- Experience of financial and performance management within a local authority.
